I've a particular song in mind and I was wondering if it might be known elsewhere in the world and, if so, what it's called and if there are any radically different arrangements and so on.

The song?

'När det lider mot jul (Det strålar en stjärna)'
(Music: Ruben Liljefors. Lyrics: Jeanna Oterdahl.)

hmmm...I think I know this song. In english it´s called "when x-mas is close at hand", right? But I don´t know if there is a german version of it.

Never heard of anything remotely similar. :)

You seem to be right. I googled the title, (christmas instead of x-mas), and found that apparently, Agneta, (Abba), recorded a version of this song and at www.agnetha.net (http://www.agnetha.net) it's listed with Swedish lyrics and the, (alternate), english title. I've no idea if this means she actually recorded an english version.

Ok so it's not a Christmas song but I vote for "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." I could help you out with the backing voxs.

Prepare the backing tracks and I'll supply the lead vocals. :)

Cool, I'll get right to work on that. It'll be in the key of "W" (way off key) and my swedish isn't all that great so you'll have to fix my accent and pronounciation, but other than that it'll be great.

That's where Melodyne comes in handy. :D

Oh, I've got just the plug for that. After all, how do you think I took care of that grave accent problem on those albums I've sung on? ;)

Dude... you might want to learn Spanish. We know Feliz Navidad. Maybe a little French like "O tantenbaum. (Sp?)"

I can't quite picture you singing "Frosty the Snowman" but not what you have typed there. I don't think that would be a big seller my friend outside of Sweden.

You can always shy away with stuff like "I saw Mommy Fucking the next Door Neighbor Dressed Up Like Santa Clause" or something like that.... or you could get bold and sing ALL THE PARTS to Gloria in Excelsis Deo. How about that. I think you can do it my singing friend. ^___^

I don't. :) I've heard it but I don't know it.

Looks like you meant German and "O Tannenbaum"? :)

I don't either and trust me when I say that it was never an issue.
It's mostly a "novelty" thing. :)

Makes for a little "Freewheel Burning"´stunt singing that, doesn't it? ;)

Whoa, hold on, I haven't got all the time in the world.

Oh, hey, it just occured to me... how many of us here at the forum have rudimentary recording equipment at home?
How many of us would be willing to use it?
What instrument would you play?
Or would you rather sing?

That is German ? Hmmm....... I never knew that. I actually consider myself quite a worldly person, but I plead the "I am an American" phrase when it comes to language. I know a little about the culture in Malaysia, the commerce in the UAR, but anything that isn't in the English language could be the Martian language and I wouldn't know it.

As far as music..... I play electric guitar, acoustic guitar and bass and I have various recording software on my PC. I simply have no time to use it lately.

Oh btw... as far as singing..... on good days I do pretty well with Southern Rock. It is funny that I live in The South (US,) yet listen to little of it (less Blackfoot which I damned sure CAN NOT sing,) but I guess I have the vocal qualities for that. When you get ready to make a Souther Rock release, I can help you. >:P~
