As most of you who got their copy of the Tabula Rasa CD noticed, there is a code on the last page of the booklet that cries out to be cracked. If anyone has done it yet, they haven't boasted about it here. So I decided to open this thread because two minds think better than one, and the more than two, the better. I apologize if there is some thread or topic doubling, I searched the forum in advance and did not notice a related thread.
Of course, let's not post blatant spoilers here.
I personally spent a few hours on a weekend almost banging my head in a solid wall. This looks like a sophisticated cipher, not a simple substitution one. I am not sure it's polyalphabetic substitution either. If we assume that the string of characters under Urban's name is the encrypted version of his name (which is the first assumption anyone would make, I think), there are still too many characters there
I have just one question for Urban for now - is the encrypted text in English? Just making sure

And thus your conclusion?
is the encrypted text in English? Just making sure
It is. Well mostly. Anything else would've been mean. :) I will also be so nice and helpful as to tell you that there are no spaces allowed. A little handy piece of information right there. (About the mostly part. it starts out in English and so you will know if you've got it right and therefore you can safely continue when you hit a chunk of non-English. :p)

Well, I have made a few more assumptions but I wanted to start a discussion and see other people's ideas instead of doing all the thinking  Just to make a social effort of this.
Yes, I noticed that the coded text has no spacing. I also assumed, I guess correctly, that there is no single character that would replace a space. If there was, there would be an overwhelming amount of that particular character, and none really jumps out. So no spaces, that is clear. Spaces will be inserted after the code is cracked.
The long string led me to believe that actually groups of characters correspond to each letter in the alphabet. But again this doesn't give me a solution because how do I match 26 characters of the string to the 10 characters of 'Urban breed' This means 2.6 characters correspond to each letter - nice!

...OR maybe that's because the letters in the English alphabet are 26? ;)

I can't believe I am talking to myself here
With the exception of Urban of course. Come on people, you have no ideas or you don't want to share them?

don't wanna share. we're hitting our heads to the wall for more than few days now with that code :D I'll sue someone if I get brain damage

I can just say, if you crack it. then you are good, I know Urban, he can be evil some times :D
I havent seen the code so i cant say anything
all i can do is say Good luck :D

I'd of course share my thoughts, if I had any... maybe it's because I still haven't got the album yet... I'll probably have to order it online, I was told in a record shop in Austria I have to wait until May 22nd until I can buy it... horrible!

Well, I tried several cyphers with letter replacement and displacement, even a few with numbers, but I got nothing. I tried comparing the 26 letters under Urban breed to the 26 in the English alphabet (also in reverse) but still nothing. I'm still thinking about the part that Urban's name is key. I'm sure there's more to these words. But just in case, tomorrow I'll try to isolate the parts in the riddle where there are pairs of letters or pairs of groups of letters, that could correspond to the EE in BREED. If nothing happens, I'll look for the RB and BR.

Nice ideas there Bobby. I looked for any combination of three characters that would repeat very often as it would probably correspond to "the" - probably the most common English "word". But I haven't looked very closely and no result yet.
Either way I am pretty much brain dead right now and tomorrow is another work-laden day, so I might give the code another try over the weekend.

is there a direct correlation of one letter:one letter?

I hope so, as I don't see any two- or three-letter patterns. But there could also be "dummy" letters - like every second letter is meaningless. Or they could be jumbled. Though I tried "unjumbling" them in at least three different ways and nothing coherent came out.

I tried for few days to crack it, but I gave up really. I have no experience with cyphers, I used some online help, but still nothing. I`m starting to think that One letter is NOT one letter in the code, at least, but that's just maybe because I cant crack it, so I'm getting ideas ...

I heard Shaye has figured it out  I am still very very far from that

I just got my copy today and I did just take a first a glance at the code... I expected it to be a little... hm... let's say... easier...
Seems to be really a tough task to crack it, but nonetheless I'll try to figure it out some time!
