View Full Version : Favourite Tad Morose song...and why

Right, I know that it is very difficult and sometimes stupid to single out a song to call your favourite.
But often there is a song you have played 10 times as much as all the rest, a song that moves you in some abstract, obscure way and you finally realize that although all songs of a musician are your most beloved, there is one or two after all which glows with a brighter flame.

It is the same with me here - I love all TM songs, evey one of them - and every single one of them is my favourite. However, there is a piece that stands taller - Corporate Masters.

This epic piece always moves me, always touches me. It is something that is as personal as it could be. The idea of Capitalism ruling the modern world, and a bunch of people controlling all poeple's lives is very close to my thinking. It has always been my most popular topic in my life - modern world and its laws.

The song says: Can I live up to the role.... This is so true - there are countless people who suffer the paradoxes of modern life and they do not even relize the very reason - people cannot adapt to this law - of extremely rich and extremely poor creatures - of hunger and prosperity, of trends and technology.

It seems that man is just a clever animal - far from ready to live this paradox life. And as Urban says in the song - "...who are we unbelieving...in a world full of pain..."

As if we have NO control of anything - our lives are all ruled by some who have imense power and we merely try to adapt to this role in the gutter, striving all lifetime to reach more power so that we can get hold of control.

It is destructive - at the phrase where Urban screams "..run this world backwards" I am always moved into tears. This rock melody reminiscent of old times reminds with a blow how deep we have fallen.

This song is just the truth itself - I adore this.

So...what is your favourite...or most important.

Urban is also to asnwer here.

Not at all, quite the contrary... Good to see someone thinking about the lyrics! When I really like a band I always start to read the lyrics, think about and interpret them. I got to know TM just a year ago and ordered all albums with Urban on it online a few months ago... However I didn't have the time to read all the lyrics in detail yet. At the moment I don't have much spare time and so I mostly listen to music on my way to work. But with all the noise and people around me it's harder to pay close attention to the lyris. Though I know all the melodies and riffs by now I still do not know what some songs are about. Shame on me!

What you wrote about Corporate Masters makes me believe that there's much that I missed yet!!!

So at the moment I just can name you the two songs I like most just because of the great music:

Take on the World
When The Spirit Rules The World

Mother Shipton's Words is also quite interesting as I sometimes wonder if there really exist (or existed) some people with "supernatural powers"... just like to see some things in the future like Mother Shipton... up to now I always doubted it!

Haha... priceless! You just made my day! No, as RedCriss pointed out, quite the contrary. I think what happens is people see that you put a lot of thought into your post and so they may want to think a bit more about what to post themselves.

Personally, with a post like this, I prefer to wait until more people have chimed in before I let you know what my favorites are.
Oh, and maybe it's also the fact that I wrote the lyrics and people are afraid of getting it wrong.
So to get things rolling, let's summon Bryant to tell us, including me, what the songs really are about.

Bwwwyyyyyaaaaant!

yea, one of the few bands that i get pissed off sometimes when i have to only mention 1 song!! aahhh!!! how to do this....

oh i know...
NO MERCY!! my username on just about every forum, haha. but no...hmmm...

i think i have to go with
To Take On The World.

regardless of what was intended when it was written, its always been like a carrying song for a fight or battle...(not the cheesy kind with swords and dragons). it definitely has been a good song and message there for me when i felt i was up against insurmountable odds.

the first 4 lines, to me, is saying that im moving on and taken a new direction, even though i dont seem to find myself getting anywhere yet.
"Come join the circuitry it's me
Yes I've left the old ways, roaming free"

and that we are willing to work with others and their ideas, but at the same time stay true to your own beliefs.
"Let us reach out one more time
Raise our banners, hold 'em high"

so as far of the meaning of the song, thats why i love it.

but then the song itself is killer. its still more fast-paced, which is almost always more to my liking, but also has some killer heavy pieces to it. and then the vocals are awesome as usual. love the melody lines and the backings are always a great touch for my personal taste.

idk though i could say that stuff about alot of songs though...servant of the bones, no-mercy, i know your name, clearly insane...

Mother shipton's words
Afraid to die
Another way

Modus vivendi is best of!!
I still love this album like it's brand new!

Anubis. It's quite simply the best song Urban and Daniel have ever written.

There are a lot of close seconds, though. Servant of the Bones, Undead, Ethereal Soul, I Know Your Name, Sword of Retribution... some of my other favorites. :)

Zdrasti!
The topic is not stupid at all - I've been thinking about it ever since I saw it, but it's very hard to choose, so I finally came up with something like: Ethereal soul, Anubis, Another time around, Don't prey for me, No mercy...
And Knowing you, knowing me  - one of the best covers I've ever heard.

So, meet you at the frontline tomorrow! :)

My first choice would be 'Another Time Around'. It's one of the first Tad Morose song I heard, and it stuck in my head instantly. It's just so damn catchy, and again very powerful. :excl: It's everything a good metal song should be.

Btw I found about Tad Morose after I heard 'Nosferatu' and saw that Urban had been singing there before Bloodbound  before that I just heard about the band, never listened to it actually.

I also discovered Tad Morose criminally late - in 2005. But they have made my world so full that days since then have been passing slowly and feels like decades since then. :)

Hell, I didn't discover them until 2004. 'Course, then I snatched up the singer the next year. :p

Good choice... here I am, where the dead rule the night... I really like Urban's more aggressive vocals on the verses of that song!

By the way, I discovered TM last summer, just a week before he joined Pyramaze (my favorite band). That is late, but better late than never, right? :)

Anubis by all means. It was the first Tad Morose song I ever heard, and fell in love with it at once. Take on the world is also among my favourites, and I listen to Matters of the dark a lot.

That sounds somewhat familiar to me! :)
Anubis was also the first song I heard of TM. Someone recommended it on the Pyramaze-forum (thanks Muz!) and I checked out their myspace-page. That was just a year ago... Amazing song, just like the whole album as well! I can't find any weak song on that album, not even a weak riff! By now, it's my favorite album of all time.

Hard for me to pick a favorite TM song. Maybe it will be an upcoming one now that they have a "real" singer... J/k of course. However, they are playing at Rockweekend 09 (Kilafors Sweden) so it seems like maybe they are getting things together.

As I already stated, it would be tough to pick one fave, though I could probably narrow it down to a few..... I am in the minority I think as my fave TM release is probably MOtD, though not by much as Undead and MV kick ass as well.

In the Shadows - The first few lines of lyrics are awesome. Urban sings those lines very well. It is some of his best vocal work.
Sword of Retribution - I love the chorus. The harmony vocals and the guitar in the chorus are outstanding.
Corporate Master - love the song. What's not to love.
Afraid to Die - very underrated track on the masterful MV. So much emotion in the song.
