Hi,
after listening to Urban's songs over and over again, I hardly can find the right words to describe my feelings.
Urban, you are outstanding! Your perfomance on every release is incredible: power, emotion, range, amazing melodies... yep, just unbelievable!
Six months ago I didn't even know your name, and now you've easily become my favorite singer.
So I just want to say: THANK YOU for your passion towards music! Please keep it!
And for this forum that gives us the opportunity to talk to you personally!
Ah yes, and a special thanks for the Arcade, I got addicted to some of these games...
YOU RULE! :)
Cheers

No, thank you for putting a smile on my face. :-)
Passion is good. The business end of this is probably the biggest threat to it but with a little help from my friends both here and elsewhere I believe it's possible to keep it...I

ha this reminds me of a few days ago.
was making a collection of TM for a friend that wanted to check em out...so kinda like a makeshift "best of".
i was only including the latest albums w/ urban...and even with ignoring the early albums i wound up with nearly every song from Undead, MOTD, and MV on it...so essentially i was just letting him borrow 3 full cds. its THAT good!

oh yes, a best-of-collection seems to be a quite hard task!
I'm listening to Urban's releases all the time, but I still don't know a song to leave off yet... guess it will take many more spins to find out which songs I really like most... at the moment it's 'Take on the World', 'Trader of Souls' and 'Afraid to Die'... and 'Mother Shipton's Words'... ok... stop... I could list some more songs now! :)

MOTD of the dark has the best atmospherical vocals i think...he really works the backings like crazy during alot of the choruses, its awesome.

yeah, Urban's backings are really awesome, especially on MOTD and MV!
I like the way he writes the melodies for the choruses... the melodies of the backings and his lead voice fit that well, it's incredible... just listening to 'Afraid to Die' now...
by my side, my side
by my side, my side
time
time runs out
no longer
without you by my side
no longer...
so amazing!
But in the booklet there are always some guest singers mentioned, don't now yet how many backings they are actually singing though... most of the time I could swear it's Urban doing the backings... are the others just doubling his lines?
However, at the moment Modus Vivendi seems to become my favorite album of all time, even better than Pyramaze's releases. Everything is perfect: well-written, powerful songs that are a little progressive, great solos, great cover-artwork (also the rest of the booklet), solid production... and well... above all, Urban's incredible voice. Everytime I listen to it, I'm just stoked again! :)

If you do a voice by voice count what you hear is on average about 85-90% Urban. There is no harmony I don't do but several that guesting vocalists don't. Sometimes it's just me. At other times only about 60%.
This is mostly because it takes so much time to have somebody else get into my peculiarities and such...

your peculiarities... I see...
Seriously, thanks for the info!
I think it's not that easy for someone else to sing your harmonies clearly, with the right pitch AND passion... however you got the guest vocalists to sing it the 'right' way, the outcome is really amazing!
But the passion you put into all these songs makes them outstanding!
Sorry for praising you so much, but your vocals are the main reason why I can't stop listening to TM and Bloodbound at the moment. Hope you don't mind. :)

Urban is a monster vocalist. Since I know him personally, I tend not to praise him enough as I dont want his ego through the roof around me. When it comes down to it, though..... I dont know if there is a better vocalist out there today. I also feel the same about him live. In the last ten years, only Andy B. Franck and Andy Kuntz have equalled Urban as a frontman, and neither of those vocalists sing as well as Urban. Urban is the total package. Urban is a monster live as well.

grrr... stop talking, that makes me want to see him live even more! I hope that this day will come... soon! Be it with Pyramaze or Bloodbound! :)
I didn't check out Brainstorm nor Vanden Plas yet, maybe worth a try...
Until I heard about Urban, Matt Barlow has been my favorite singer. He's also got a powerful voice with a lot of emotion... I saw him live with Iced Earth twice, both times it was amazing. I didn't meet him personally though. Now that he is back in IE, I'm curious if the next release of IE will be better again, The Crucible Of Men is not really worth talking about in my opinion. However, I'm much more curious about Urban and Pyramaze!!!

I forgot you were in Austria. Actually getting to see Brainstorm and Vanden Plas wouldn't be too tough for you. Both are German bands. I am sure you are only a few hundred km from Munich. The Vanden Plas guys actually live in Kaiserslaughtern...... not real sure what part of Germany Brainstorm hail from. Now I am jealous of you. It is tough getting Vanden Plas into the states. I have only seen them once.

Yep, 4 to be exact. :)
Now I am jealous of you.
Be careful, isn't that one of the seven deadly sins?
Seriously, you make me curious about these bands. I'll check out their websites and tell you about my first impression.

Hey Urban,
I hope you didn't forget your shoes here in Vienna... sorry that I could not remind you personally, but I hope to get another chance once... do you remember I once said that almost nothing could prevent me from seeing you when you come to Vienna? Well, I did not expect to get ill... I really wanted to see you live... and of course I could listen to Tabula Rasa by now! So I'll have to wait some more days until it is released officially... grrr... I want to listen to it now!!!
By the way, I have to tell you something though Bryant told me not to praise you too much... big ego... getting bigger... ;)
But I spent a lot of time listening to your albums last week AND read all the lyrics along... hell was I wrong... I thought that you are singing about fantasy stories exclusively like so many other bands... seems I was misled by some song titles (Undead, Devil's Finger, Guest of the Inquisition, Matters of the Dark...). But now as I know the lyrics much better I really love many songs even more (Corporate Masters, I Know Your Name, No Tears in the Rain...). I'm really impressed!!!
So just let me say THANKS for your passion towards music once again!!!

Just wait until you hear Tabula Rasa. There is a song on their where Urban sings about this mystical dragon named Puff. puff lived by the sea. He also had a friend named Jacky who is mentioned in the song.
