Hey folks-
Bryant said I don't check in enough - not that I don't have a good excuse. Recording a rock opera has a way of kinda taking up one's time. That and all the other stuff that goes along with it. People around here have started telling me that it's like I'm having a baby. I say, "Yeah.. Godzilla." If anybody wants to throw me a shower, here's a list of gift suggestions:
- A personal manager
- A masseur
- Vicodin, lots of it
Don't wanna talk too much about the cake while it's still in the oven. But, our new website is scheduled to go live in September. Also, look for our ad in the PPUSA IX program. That will fill folks in on some of the long awaited details. Everybody's workin hard to deliver something special - that much I can promise you. Just hang in.
As for other updates, let's see. Well, I split from Myriad last year. That situation barely got off the ground anyway, so not much to speak of there. However, I've been workin on another, which could lead to a new band for me - wouldn't that be nice? You figure - Urban's got what? 3 bands now. Figure I best catch up, lest folks think me a slacker. Hahah.
Anyway, here's a VERY rough sketch of what I'm entertaining these days:

Let me know what you think.
Okay, back to work. *crack*

Thanks for the update sweetie. I was actually about to send you a PM when I saw this message. It seems like you are busy as hell. I list6ened to the track. It is really good. I have played it about three times in a row. I was very critical of the first track you let us hear. I still am not crazy about it so much to be honest, but this one is cool. It is very original stylistically. It is modern, but I am hearing some 70's influence in this. Am I imagining it ? Anyway keep up the good work. Can't wait until it is completed.

Hey B-
Glad you enjoyed the tune. Can't remember what I might have shared with you previously, but if it was anything from Myriad, I'd be likely to agree. That material was very much a Nightwish/Sonata Arctica hybrid. Love both bands, but the "gothic diva" Tarja Turunen style vocals over hyperspeed drumming really doesn't suit my personality. Besides, I think I'd look absurd in a ball gown and color-coordinated microphone. Don't you? :D
The 70s influence you're hearing in "Firebrand" is very much real. The new team I'm working with has a definite soulful, bluesy influence. You'll hear a lot of Dio, Tony Martin, and Ann Wilson in my vocals. Musically, same genre, but darker and crunchier overall. Evergrey, Iced Earth, that sort of thing. I'm very excited about this one. Very much looking forward to seeing what this team yields.
That being said, this new project is in its infancy. We don't even have a name yet. Hahah. Krone will be out before this one is. Krone, of course, is an opera, so you're gonna hear a lot of different singers and a lot of different styles on that. It's a pretty unique tapestry of talent and influence. Very much a cross-section, but necessary for the telling of the story. I'm hopeful people will enjoy.
Okay.. 8:30a here. Time to start my day.

So... you gonna have some stuff for us to hear at ProgPower? Or will we have to make do with just karaoke again? ;)

Hopin to. All depends on how things come together. Krone production is largely in Chris' hands at this stage - engineering and getting production files to and from our remote vocalists. As you know, not all the talent resides here in Pittsburgh - or even in the U.S., for that matter. ;)
As for the new band, we are writing like MAD! My hope is to at least have some rough demo tracks to bring with me to share with folks.
As for the karaoke, everybody always seems to want it. Though, I have to admit - it's a lot more fun when your hubby's up there singin with me. ;)
Speaking of which, is Urban gonna grace us with some new stuff at PP this year?? That's what -I- wanna know. ;)

Good tune, I'd like to hear something more! :) If I'm in the right mood, I enjoy listening to that kind of music...

Hmmm.... I thought I heard some 70's influence. Cool to see Tony Martin as an influence as well. Tony Martin is awesome !!
I don't know about you in a gown and lace. You are black jeans and t-shirt kind of gal in my eyes.
I doubt the name fits your style, but my last band's name was The Last Stand. My Brother actually pulled it out of the hat on one of those "beer drinking What should the name of our band name be ?" nights. No one else liked it.... even him, but I did.

I forgot you were from Pittsburgh. I will turn you into a football monster before this year is over dear, just like me and Shay-gurl.

Have you tried Modus Vivendi ? :D
You probably didn't realize it, but I was flirting with you like I do with the girls on this forum on the pyrarules thread. I thought the way your name was spelled, that you were a female. Things are different now. I don't like hairy butts. You have to shave you butt before you send me a picture and there can be no balls showing either.
I am joking.... please do not send me ANY picture of your butt. Ha ha ha... I still like you though Criss.... even if you look like Lemmy. Urban sorta looks like Lemmy and I still like him.

Haha, I don't look like Lemmy... sorry, I have no photo to prove that I'm ugly, you'll have to believe me that I'm one of the ugliest guys around. Maybe it'd be easier to believe if you would know my brother. Hm, maybe you do know him, he was one the orks in Lord Of The Rings. And the only actor who didn't need to put on a mask. By the way, you can see him in part three, after 1 hour and three minutes. :D
Have you tried Modus Vivendi ?
I only have tried the four songs I found on TM's myspace-page. They are all amazing, especially Anubis!

lol, no, that's not quite my butt. And no, you DEFINITELY don't want a picture of mine in a G-string. :P My butt looks much better IN clothes, trust me on this one.
That's a random picture I found when I googled falukorv, IIRC. I guess it's not as funny if you have to explain it, but falukorv is a type of sausage (from around Falun, hence the name) that is red. Tight red pants, sausage, falukorv! Get it? haha, ha. :D

Those are pants. I believe I tracked down the picture and found it to have been taken at a Formula 1 race somewhere.

Spray painted buns and sausage - I have evidently been away from this forum too long.

That is why you have to keep up, Jen.
I barely remember what this thread started out being about, though I know I had a heavy hand involved in it ending up being about sausage and buns. Now I am hungry.
