Sweetie your voice is in top form. I love the way YOU sound, but there is some time wasted between vocal parts where there should be something musical going on and it is not. The songwriting is not on the calibur with your vocal prowess. I would pay money to hear you sing,. but I can't say the same for the "band" that supports you.

Thanks for the compliments (voice), but ouch (music). May I ask which tune(s) you're critiquing? And, what specifically do you feel is lacking?

Thanks.

Sorry dear....I was way too critical trying to judge your band's music on just one song. That is unfair and I apologize. I have been so busy the last several days that I can't remember which song, but before I have to go back to work Wedensday night, I'll listen to it again and give it a few spins and critique it a little better than my first reply. ^___^

I listened to the song again. The only one I saw was "Twilight of My Tears," so that was the one I was talking about. I wasn't trying to say your bandmates aren't talented. They very well may be, but that particular song seems a bit plodding. Even with the clean style guitar during the vocals contrasting the chunky opening riffs, the song seems to have the same tempo all of the way through. With some really good production to give the song more dynamics, it may sound much better as the volume is about the same all of the way through as well. I do like the bass riffs at the end quite a bit.

Oh and one other thing..... don't take my criticism to hard. I am one picky SOB. I have already given Urban a hard time about not having a twin guitar attack in "Trail of Murder" as well as other stuff, but I won't get into the other stuff and make this the "let's see how bad I can knock Urban" thread.

Okay, just wanted to clarify. Firstly, I don't mind criticism. In fact, I encourage it - so long as it's constructive. "Twilight of My Tears" was a tune Chris (my partner - he is the whole band) slapped together in a weekend. I think Chris tracked the instrumentation in an afternoon, and I threw down the vocals in an hour. We submitted the track to Deron as a kind of "What the hell, let's see if it's good enough for the sampler" whim. Deron accepted it, so there it is.

"Twilight of My Tears" was actually the very first track we recorded in my partner's new studio environment, so it was as much a test as anything else. The actual tracks that are on the opera CD will have a lot more depth. Naturally, a lot more time is being spent crafting these. But, thank you very much for your comments. Chris' first instrument is bass, so I'm sure he'll appreciate your kudos about the bass riffs.

Oh, no worries there. As I said, I can take it. I just question criticism when no reason is given. Know what I'm saying? I've not heard "Trail of Murder", so I can't comment there. Only heard some of the solo stuff in pilot form. I guess we can count on you for a double whammy when you hear the stuff we sing together, eh?
