I'm curious, which guitar solo, on either 'Nosferatu' or 'Book of the Dead' do you like the most?
Can you motivate, elaborate?
I'll wait before I post my favorite.

The instrumental parts of "Black Heart" and the abolutely fabulous part of "Nosferatu" when the guitars start after the slower intro.
That one is really great. :D :D

All of Tomas solos are amazing. I'm curious of which I like most, now when you mention it. I will analyze it a bit and come back:happy:

And what did you find out, Niclas?;)
I listened several times to both albums and I guess the guitar solo in "Turn to stone" caresses my ears the most:D

Ahh... It's very hard to say which guitar solo is my favorite. All of them are great! Maybe after next hundreds listening it will be possible to point wich of them are the best for me.

Hyhy. It is likely. So we can make a little betting (or gambling - i don't know which one is correct in English) here - which one of us will be first.

And seriously: I promise to hurry and choose one soon. :)

Hmm it's hard. I like the solo in Desdemonamelia. It's a great solo and you can hear that it has a clear "function" in the song. I mean the tempo accelerate as the solo is played, and that sounds fantastic together. Desdemonamelia is also one of the best BB-songs!

I will post another favourite solo very soon! =)

Ok, here's my try to revive that thread as I just got my copy of Nosferatu!

To me, Nosferatu is the best song on this album, actually it's one of the best that I've ever heard! Really amazing, especially the melody of the vocals!

Nevertheless, as far as just the solos are concerned, I like the leads and the solo of Desdemonamelia a little more... weird, but that's the way it is... maybe that will change after a few more spins though :)

Cheers!

Both Behind The Moon and Nosferatu solos are top of the top with the epic continuity of vocal-like notes. BUt they sound more like favourite melodies.

As a solo, Desdemonamelia's one rules them all. Totally!

On the Battlefield's solo btw, is more or less Maiden-are-in-my-house solo.

To Book Of The Dead I have never listened... I don't think I will.

Give it a spin. Bormann is doing a good job, if you ask me.

I surely would give Book Of The Dead some spins before judging, but this album still has not grabbed me. Guess that has several reasons and I'll have to compare it Nosferatu to point out what I mean.

First of all, to me many riffs and especially the usage of this galloping rhythm make sound the songs on Nosferatu already familiar during the first spin. This is probably the only thing that I do not like about this album. But each song is played with so much serenity and easiness, power and emotion... you really can hear the fun they must have had recording this. And that's why these songs always put a smile on my face when I'm listening to them. No album of Iron Maiden, Helloween etc makes me feel this way.

But the one thing that makes this album really stand out is the work of Urban. He has such a sense of great melodies and seems to know exactly what a song needs to shine. Behind the Moon, Nosferatu and Metal Monster have so amazing melodies, once you've heard them, they will haunt you forever. Only For the King and Midnight Sun I skip every now and then.

The songs on Book Of The Dead are also quite good, but they do not put this special smile on my face. And of course, Urban is missing. Not that Michael Borman is a bad singer - far from it - but his voice just sounds a little more average. And quite good songs with quite good vocals seems not to be enough to grab me and want to listen to it more often. Except for the title-track! hey... hey... hey... hey...

My favorite guitar solo is most likely The Tempter, kinda reminiscent of Megadeth's solo from Tornado of souls, just shorter. Other great solos are in Metal monster and Midnight sun.
