Mr and Mrs administrator already had their minds made up that they didn't like this band, but if Pagan's Mind comes near you (in Europe) supporting Fates Warning you need to check them out.

The band is more than ok. They're even better than good. I just happen to not like their songwriting. They come up with absolutely amazing stuff sometimes and shoot it down with this compulsion to add redundant parts. Sorry, but still, unlike my wife, (I'm sure), I would not advice against going to see them. :D

On the contrary, most people I think who are even tolerant of prog would like this band. I do not. I still watched a couple of their songs at PP even though I've seen them before (why my mind was made up, Vryant... don't make it sound like I'd never heard them before!! :b)

They're certainly talented musicians, but I've heard enough Dream Theater to wanna hear another band focused way too much on musical ability and technicality and not enough on writing a good, catchy song. :)

Well, I know the name of the band, but can't think of a song right now.
I will check them out live next week and then I'll see if I like them or not

I am surprised Urban. I figured the effects on the voice (on the recordings) would turn you completely off. I thought they were truly "elite" live. I use that term extremely sparingly. I wish I could afford to go watch them blow Fates Warning off the stage in The Netherlands and Germany, but I have to wait until after my trip to Japan to be able to afford that kind of travel.

Well I guess this is where we differ to an extreme. I can name all of the prog bands I really like on two hands, btw. I find their songwriting to be what impresses me the most. It has a very "sing-a-long" quality to it. If Dream Theater made releases (I&W excluded) half as good as Pagan's Mind, I would own their collection.

Vryant :D

As it is right now I simply don't want to hear a song lose momentum. Use that centrifugal force and bloody well launch that chorus already!!! :D

These days I'm sure hardly anyone could really make me go crazy about a performance.
Maybe Peter Gabriel, I don't know...

Ha ha ha ever the ambassador for metal music huh Urban ? Of course Peter Gabriel sang in this obscure prog rock band early in his life..... Genesis before he left and Charlie Brown took over the vocals. See the resemblance ?

Anyway.... some people seem to think I am some progger guy, as my fave band, Vanden Plas is prog metal, but the truth is, I can probably count the prog bands I really dig on one hand. While it's true all of the prog bands go into some musical tangents, the bands I like go into musical tangents that make musical sense to my ears. Maybe one day you will find one that suits you.

what are pagans mindPagan's Mind is a band from Norway. They're managed by the same person as Jørn Lande. I would say that they're halfway decent musicians. :D Bryant thinks Viggo is God whereas I know I am. I would agree with Bryant, if asked, that Viggo is the better guitar player. Some of their songs have parts in them that are simply brilliant. :D

Ok Vurban... stop being a Bryant. I have a patent applied for at "being God." They sent my paperwork back one time saying that being God wasn't an invention or improvement on an existing object and they couldn't patent it. I responded and said "I'm freaking God....... I invented all kinds of shit, but if I tried to patent all of it, it wouldn't get completed in your lifetime. Now give me my patent before I turn you into an African fruit fly. I am still awaiting my replay ....btw. Sometimes these things take some time.

I have been into Jorn Viggo/PM since Celestial Entrance came out.... 2003 maybe ?...... so it was nothing new for me to hear, but his guitar prowess at PPVIII was noticed not only by other musicians, but many "regular" fans. He is on a different level than all but a very few in the guitar world. He does plenty of "shredding" when it fits, but also plays with lots of emotion. That has been missing from many modern guitarists.

Ha ha ha..... I really hate Leatherwolf changed back to their original line-up. There was some real promise in that band. I guess you noticed their former guitarist (Eric Halpern) was playing for Krucible. I am happy he is back in a band. He is a pretty good guy.

Bzzzt ..... wrong answer about Pagans Mind..... I will now perform hypnotism........ stare into the screen for three hours and contimuously repeat after me...... Pagan's Mind kicks ass........ Pagan's Mind kicks ass..... Pagan's Mind kicks ass......

Now wasn't that easy ?
