Is everything ok ? I heard from the bar mgr. at Spicoli's that your drummer was in a car accident. I went there expecting you guys to play. I was going to surprise you all with my divine presence.

Not to worry everything will be fine but we couldn't do the gig without a drummer. We did try to find someone to fill in. (We did get help with the gig in Atlanta) We were looking forward to playing. In fact, so much that we tried everything including trying to get a hold of you in order to get help finding someone to fill in.

Best to reach me on my home number 123-456-7890. We have an answering machine as well. I have my cell phone with me only about half the time. I am not a cell phone kind of guy.
I possibly could have come up with a drummer. He is in Eufaula (60 miles from Phenix City but still might have done the gig just for a hoot. I couldn't give you the name of more than two competent drummers in the Phenix City/Columbus area, (namely John and Tim Saint, Shaye knows tose guys ) because back when I was playing in bands, my brother and I must have ran through half of them in town with little luck.

Oh one other thing......... the crowd wasn't that great anyway. There were quite a bit of people there, but let's just say, I was the only guy with long hair and a metal shirt on. I didn't feel out of place, personally though. Being from Alabama, as soon as I were to open my mouth I would have fit right in, but it certainly wasn't a metal crowd.

We would have done a set leaning more on the hard rock side though.

Not so far. With you in the crowd it is inevitable, though. :)

I see..... I think it is actually one of Ronnie's more challenging songs as far as his rasp and range. I think it is one of Ronnie's best songs and certainly underrated.
It also shows off Viv's odd sense of melody as well in his fills and the solo. The only other guitar player that ever had similar melody that I can think of is George Lynch. I bet Darg does some head scratching working on Viv's solos trying to get those strange note selections.

I should ask him... or make sure he gets on here himself. :)

Yeah, Gypsy is a really good song and has certainly interesting guitar and vocal parts.

I listened a lot to Dio lately and discovered many songs I did not know. So finally the list of his best songs gets longer and longer for me.
