And for being the first to reply, you have won a brand new copy of the new Trail of Murder album!!! (offer excludes residents of Oregon)... *Damn!

Seriously though. Lots of good tunes to choose from... It was really hard to deviate from my absolute favorite albums, but I tried to pick a pretty even spread. I think it is absolutely awesome that you are doing Dio stuff. I really wish I could hear it! Hope you have fun nevertheless.

Tough task... I thought. Actually I just copied all the titles to an excel file and marked songs I'd listen to now. I ended up with 16, so just pick had to pick one more. I don't know every single song, but out of the many I know, today I'd end up with this list:

1. Man on the Silver Mountain
2. The Temple of the King
3. Starstruck (just cut the instrumental parts down a bit)
4. Long Live Rock 'n' Roll
5. Lady of the Lake
6. Gates of Babylon
7. Children Of The Sea
8. The Sign Of The Southern Cross
9. Straight Through The Heart
10. Rainbow In The Dark
11. The Last In Line
12. Dream Evil
13. All The Fools Sailed Away (please!)
14. Naked In The Rain
15. Master Of Insanity (anyone else likes that song?)
16. Otherworld
17. Bible Black

Would be awesome to hear you doing that list!

Sweet deal! Too bad for you, eh? ;)

I tried to pick a pretty even spread.
You really succeeded in that. Andrew and I looked at your picks and went: "Hmm... Interesting." :)

That easy, huh? Not so for us. We had to leave out so many favorite tracks... :)

3. Starstruck (just cut the instrumental parts down a bit)
Since you put it like that... I assume you really meant 'Stargazer'. Am I right?

15. Master Of Insanity (anyone else likes that song?)
I like almost all of 'Dehumanizer' It is a great album if you can look past the crappy production. There are only two tracks and a half that I don't like much and this is not one of them.

Ah... looks so good! If I had the time and money I would make the trip to see it. I am learning quickly how little time one has when raising a newborn child and working! (By my word, she'll grow to be a metalhead like her dad :) )

Hehe, there are many more songs I'd like to hear, the complete Heaven & Hell album for instance... or songs from Holy Diver, The Devil You Know, Dehumanizer etc. I also thought it would be very tough, but in yesterday's mood I just picked a few songs... but to make it a good setlist I had to put much more thought into it.

Hm, yes, you are! With so many Rainbow's and Star's to choose from I knew I would mix up one. :) Though Starstruck would be great to hear as well! Love the whole album - apart from some instrumentals that I consider being too long.

Come to think of it, you couldn't go wrong even by picking songs randomly. If you chose any 10 songs, surely I'd love more than 7 of them. :)

You forgot Hear-n-Aid's "Stars." I will do 18. See if you can figure out why.

#1 Gypsy - the most underrated Dio song of all-time.
#2 Sign of the Southern Cross - this is as much a tribute to the musicians as much as Ronnie though, though you can't separate the two. One of the coolest acoustic intros of all time.
#3 Rainbow in the Dark - Maybe Ronnie hated it, but maybe it was only because his ego of being "underground" disagreed with it's popularity, or it it was actually reasonably challenging for him to sing live. It was not the first "Ronnie" song I had ever heard, but it was my first "Dio" song.
#4 Don't Talk to Strangers - Fuck !! This should have been #2, but I won't change it. Trying to pick my favorite Dio song is like trying to pick my favorite fantasy to masturbate to.
#5 Long Live Rock and Roll - talk about an anthem !! Enough said !!
#6 Fun on the Hills - What a kick ass song !! Urban put it at #1, so it must bebe great !! I just love having fun on hills. I can relate to that song so much.
#7 Heaven and Hell - Epic !!!

Will do more later. Have to play a little guitar and sleep for the Bama game.

Odd... I was just thinking that trying to pick a fantasy is as difficult as trying to pick a Dio song to masturbate to

Indeed. Sorry 'bout that.

Invisible?

#3 Rainbow in the Dark - Maybe Ronnie hated it
I will have to agree with Ronnie here.

Trying to pick my favorite Dio song is like trying to pick my favorite fantasy to masturbate to.
..and that brings us to my next thread... ;)

Will do more later.
Looking forward to it.

You really don't like Rainbow in the Dark? Why are you going to play it then?

I am not the only one on stage. ;) On top of that, not playing it would be doing ourselves a disservice as people probably don't share my opinion of it.

Indeed, guess that's one of the mandatory songs, like Heaven And Hell... I know I did not include the latter one in my list, but I just named the songs I was in the mood for...

How was yesterday's gig? Decent drummer?
