La Vita è Bella
The Sting
The Name of the Rose

These are all movies I have seen a number of times and I am certain I will enjoy the next time as well.
..and yes, I am absolutely in love with "La Vita è Bella".

I, too, am in love with too few movies.

Let's say:

The Proposition
Mother (HK)
Driving With My Wife's Lover (Kor)
Nearly every movie starring Morgan Freeman. Because of the speaking stuff, u know :)

Personally, I think a movie is a worth a second spin if you've got something to hear again and again. Yeah, cinema is a visual art, but dialogue/monologue is what makes a movie remembered.

I think there are maybe one or two more but out of my mind at the moment.

I think I promised to check this one out earlier, right?

Yeah but add those and you have lost the format already. :D
Isn't it funny, though, how one can absolutely love a movie but when someone asks for a recommendation you can't think of it to save your life?

& I agree with, InsArtTure

Anything with Morgan Freeman is worth watching!

The Sting & The Name of the Rose, are both fine films.
I think I've seen La Vita è Bella/Life is Beautiful, the "plot" sounds very familiar. I just added it to my netflix que, for the weekend.

Yeah, Urban, I think you did.

And yes, it is funny how hard it is to think of a recommendation when you need to. But I believe it's the same with nearly anyhing these days. We are overloaded with information.

If I'm to point out 10 favourite bands, it is very likely for me to miss Tad Morose for example. even thogh I've just listened to Undead a couple of hours ago. :)

Out brains tend to work in their own favour - optimizing information, not piling it in for our sake. :)

Hm, three movies... I could either say Lord of the Rings I, II and III (my favorite movies by far) or name three movies that have already been mentioned (The Sting, Name of the Rose, Morgan Freeman), but I'll try to come up with something new.

1. The Good, The Bad, The Ugly: one out of three western I really enjoy to watch, the others are Once Upon A Time In The West and one of the other two dollar movies, A Fistful of Dollars or For a Few Dollars More. Not sure, I always mix those up.

2. Gladiator: guess that one is well-known...

3. Awakenings: actually a drama movie, but with a really stunning performance of Robert De Niro

There are a few movies that I really really love, but if I must choose, I would say these three:

1. Pirates of the Caribbean - Yeah, the three parts count as one, I love them all.
2. The Crow - I only saw the original, but damn, it's amazing!
3. Hair - Just love it. Judge me if you want ;)

And also Sweeney Todd, but I thought that one Johnny Depp movie will be enough for my list ;) Though I won't deny that I like every single movie he has ever made. He's a genius.

Oh yes, Kiril was right, too much information and we forget about something important...

I really did not mention Sleepy Hollow in my list, another great movie with Johnny Depp. I did not see all of his other movies, but those I know I actually like. I think From Hell and The Nineth Gate are the ones I like best, besides Sleepy Hollow.

Hm... Pirates of the Caribbean... I only like the first part there, the others just can't come close, though they are not bad.

Yeah, I knew I missed out something important: I didn't see all of his movies either, but those I have seen, I liked. That's what I was trying to say :P
And I agree on Sleepy Hollow and From Hell, they are among my favourites for sure.

1. Alien
2. The Matrix
3. Minority Report

Long time I wavered between Minority Report and Lord of the Rings

I've seen Alien, good movie. I've also seen The Matrix, also a good movie... I only like the first one though. But I did not see Minority Report yet, guess I should change that.

Watched the Color Of Magic the other day, not one my favorite movies, but still quite good... though they don't follow the books too much... but Tim Curry and Death are great. :)

Even though I have a massive movie collection of well over three thousand titles, I'm more captivated these days by documentaries and movies based on historical events.

Narrowing down to just three is very hard, so I'm just going to list the first three that come to mind:

1. Der Untergang (GER) - fantastic, well written, well acted movie about the final days of the Third Reich and Hitler's downfall in Berlin. Der Untergang covers the last few days up to Hitler's death and the surrender of the German Wehrmacht.

2. The Universe (History Channel US) - A five season documentary series on various aspects of the universe we live in. Some favorite episodes include: Death Stars, Mars, The Moon and Venus. The series covers everything from the biggest storms in the universe, asteroids, black holes, supernovas, the collision of two galaxies, anti-matter, cosmic clusters, pulsars and quasars and much much more.

3. Gettysburg (DVD/Bluray) Amazing movie from 1993 depicting the three day battle of the civil war that occurred July 1-3, 1863. Stars Martin Sheen, Jeff Daniels, Stephen Lang, Tom Beringer. A must watch for anyone into history, military history, the history of warfare or the civil war.

Honorable mentions go to anything done by National Geographic, PBS Nova, James Cameron's Expedition Bismark, Channel 4 (UK)'s series Battle of the Hood And Bismarck and Brute Force: The History of Weapons At War by A&E in the early 1990s
